Lord Drakan Fight Build
Fight Overview
Lord Drakan is the Grandmaster finale of The Blood Moon Rises. The encounter spans three phases with distinct attack styles, prayer requirements, and movement patterns. Preparation separates one-completion accounts from multiple death trips.
Before entering, complete the Wyrd demi-boss segment and verify inventory matches this preset. There is no mid-fight bank access.
Recommended Gear
Melee phase gear: Hallowed Flail or scythe, Bandos or better armour, defender or off-hand DPS, Berserker ring, primordial boots, infernal or fire cape.
Ranged phase gear: Sunspear or twisted bow swap, same armour if defence allows, ava's assembler, pegasian boots if available.
Magic phase gear: Trident of the swamp or sang staff for style coverage, occult necklace swap, mage prayer for defensive phases.
Store swaps in organized inventory rows to reduce misclicks during prayer switches.
Inventory and Prayers
Allocate twelve to sixteen food slots, ten to fourteen prayer potion doses, and remaining slots for gear swaps plus one emergency teleport if quest design allows escape without failing instance.
Prayer rotation includes Piety or Rigour during DPS windows, Protect from Magic, Missiles, and Melee matching Drakan attack animations. Practice switches on Wyrd immediately before Drakan.

Phase-Specific Tips
Phase one rewards patience. Learn Drakan attack cadence before drinking offensive potions. Premature Piety activation wastes prayer points during movement-heavy openings when DPS windows are short.
Phase two often introduces add management alongside style switches. Prioritize killing adds that block safe tiles before maximizing Drakan DPS. Safe positioning outweighs minor DPS losses on Grandmaster content.
Phase three combines prior mechanics at higher damage. Pre-assign hotkeys for gear swaps if using keybinds. Mouse-only players should sort inventory so swaps read left-to-right in order used during fight.
After victory, bank immediately before reward selection dialogue if instance allows. Accidental misclicks on reward interfaces are rare but costly on ironmen accounts.
Death Recovery
Learn checkpoint behavior after first death rather than assuming full quest restart. Most Grandmaster quests checkpoint before finale; restoring preset quickly matters more than analyzing death cause during panic.
Screenshot inventory before Drakan attempts on first-time accounts. Death analysis compares lost items against checkpoint restoration lists.
Hardcore ironmen should practice Wyrd and Drakan phases on normal accounts when possible. No recovery exists for permanent hardcore loss.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I melee entire fight?
Some phases favor or require style swaps. Pure melee is not viable if Drakan enforces ranged or magic vulnerability windows.
How many prayer pots for first kill?
Bring maximum practical doses. First kills waste prayers learning animations. Excess food can be dropped after learning.
Is Sanguinesti staff worth bringing?
Healing weapons reduce food slots but cost inventory space and require blood runes. Viable for learning if comfortable with magic rotations.
What if I die to Drakan?
Quest instances typically checkpoint before finale. Review walkthrough checkpoint behavior and restore preset before retry.
Do quest rewards drop during fight?
Rewards are selected after victory. Gear used during fight does not affect reward eligibility.
