Launch Day Recap — June 30, 2026

What Went Live

The Blood Moon Rises launched on June 30, 2026, closing the 20-year Myreque storyline and opening Vampyrium, the ancestral vampyre homeland. The update is a Grandmaster quest plus a full endgame region with repeatable bossing, four skilling activities, and multiple best-in-slot upgrade paths.

Start the quest by speaking to Sarius Guile at the Icyene Graveyard, reached via boat from south Burgh de Rott, Meiyerditch, or Slepe. Recommended combat level is 110+ with strong prayer switching and multi-style gear.

Quest Completion Rewards

Unlike some earlier Grandmaster quests, you receive all quest rewards — there is no pick-one choice at the finale. Completing The Blood Moon Rises grants:

  • Hallowed Flail — upgraded Blisterwood flail crafted during the quest; best-in-slot against vampyres
  • Sunspear — untradeable special attack weapon with Seeking Lunge (50% spec, guarantees 70% of max hit on success)
  • Six Tomes of XP — each grants 30,000 XP to any skill level 70 or above
  • 4 Quest Points
  • Permanent access to Vampyrium and its post-quest content
  • A Fermenting Vat for brewing in the Burgh de Rott Myreque Hideout
  • Vyrewatch Sentinels become non-aggressive after completion

See quest rewards page for detailed stats and usage notes.

Vampyrium Skilling at Launch

Four new training methods unlocked after the quest:

  • Bloodwood Woodcutting (77 WC) — harvest Bloodwood sap for Seeker Arrow crafting; high-intensity play can exceed original 80–90k XP/hr estimates
  • Leechfin Fishing (72 Fishing) — active big-net fishing with optional Blood sac / Blood vial path
  • Stymphike Hunter (76 Hunter for Letvek bait, 82 Hunter for Stymphike) — two-stage aerial hunt
  • Venators Slayer (74 Slayer) — alternative Vampyre task with higher Blood shard rates

Vampyrium deaths during the quest are not safe — Hardcore status is lost on death, though you respawn in-region with items. Banks allow deposits but not withdrawals inside Vampyrium during the quest instance.

Maggot King at Launch

The Maggot King is a repeatable solo instanced boss unlocked after quest completion. Jagex positioned difficulty between Phasmatys Nightmare and the Inferno. Key uniques at launch:

  • Crimson Kisten — crush special weapon; Brutal Swing rolls four accuracy checks at 50% spec
  • Elder venator fang — component for Necklace of Rupture (84 Crafting to etch tradeable)
  • Maggot King pet — sacrifice loot for egg rolls with improved pet odds

Seeker Arrows (+20 ranged accuracy, minimum hit of 3 on bows) come from Bloodwood sap, not the boss. See Maggot King boss guide for mechanics.

Client and Immersion Tips

Jagex recommends the standard RuneLite GPU plugin for Vampyrium — Legacy GPU may show visual layering issues. For first-time story play, raise music and area sound volumes and use Area music mode to experience the finale as intended.

Difficulty is comparable to other Grandmaster quests but final bosses emphasize telegraphs and timing over raw DPS checks. Expect learning curve similar to or slightly above Desert Treasure II on first attempts.
