Bloodwood Woodcutting

Bloodwood trees are the signature Woodcutting method in Vampyrium, introduced with The Blood Moon Rises. These crimson-barked trees grow in tiered groves west of the Crimson Exchange and require high Woodcutting levels plus quest completion to chop. Logs convert into bloodwood planks used in construction-themed rewards and high-tier fletching components documented under Seeker arrows.

Two distinct training modes exist: relaxed AFK chopping on dense clusters for roughly 50–60k XP per hour, and active tick-manipulation routes that approach 90k XP per hour at peak execution. Choose mode based on attention available — both outperform many legacy methods for level 90+ accounts.

Complete The Blood Moon Rises and reach the Woodcutting level threshold for crimson bloodwood (typically mid-90s; verify on the skills requirements page). Standard axes follow the usual metal progression — crystal axe with active play, infernal or dragon axe acceptable for AFK.

Wear lumberjack or forestry-enhanced gear if pursuing records; bloodwood does not require the forestry outfit for base functionality but bonus XP stacks. Bring a log basket or forestry kit to extend trip length before banking at the Exchange deposit box.

Upper western groves contain four-tree clusters where respawn timing aligns for minimal idle ticks. Stand on the recommended tile marked by community diagrams — one tile north-east of the central stump on world 401 patterns — and chop with full attention only every few minutes to reset when trees deplete unevenly.

AFK bloodwood assumes no forestry events and no elite aggro. Disable level-ups mid-session if you prefer uninterrupted trips; XP drops slightly on mobile clients due to mis-clicks but remains within the 50–60k band. Bank when inventory fills or after ninety minutes, whichever comes first, to avoid depleting grove respawn cycles on crowded worlds.

Active bloodwood uses two-tick or redwood-style manipulation adapted to crimson respawn cadence. Click patterns differ from traditional teaks — bloodwood trees share a shorter depletion timer, rewarding players who alternate between adjacent trees without walking. Crystal axe special attacks weave into cycles for extra XP bursts.

Active rates near 90k demand near-perfect execution, forestry basket management, and low world population. Practice on lower groves before moving to upper clusters where mis-ticks cost more time repositioning. This method is click-intensive and not sustainable for multi-hour sessions; alternate with AFK blocks to reduce fatigue.

Bloodwood logs hold moderate GE value but many players self-consume into planks for ironman progression. Fastest loop: chop upper grove, run east to Exchange deposit box, repeat. Pair with leechfin fishing on alternate days if splitting inventory goals between Woodcutting and Fishing.

World hopping resets depleted groves when competition is high. Upper groves repopulate faster on members worlds during European peak hours — plan accordingly if chasing active XP records.

Forestry events spawn occasionally in bloodwood groves. Participating adds bonus XP without breaking AFK cycles if you keep traps and events on the same tile cluster. Decline distant event teleports during active tick sessions — travel downtime hurts 90k routes more than the event reward helps.

Ironmen should prioritise bloodwood early after quest completion to fuel Seeker arrow components and construction upgrades before selling excess logs. Main accounts can treat bloodwood as a passive XP background while focusing Venator slayer streaks in the same region.
