Blood Hunt & Mid-Quest Bosses
Jovkai Key & Altar Code
The Blood Hunt segment begins inside Castle Drakan after stockpile destruction. Open the chest for the Jovkai key using altar code 35158. Each verse on chairs east of the altar maps to a low-level protection prayer and its altar restore value: Adamantite will (Mystic Will, 3), keen of sight (Sharp Eye, 5), crushed by unyielding (Burst of Strength, 1), mind free (Clarity of Thought, 5), thick skin (Thick Skin, 8). Combine the digits for 35158.
Before leaving, pray at the shrine inside Castle Drakan's front door if you have not yet—this unlocks the Castle Drakan teleport on Drakan's medallion. Ivan supplies rancid slimy and rank frothy potions equivalent to brews and super combats with lighter stat penalties.
Fleeing Through the Woods
After the first Drakan fight cutscene, you flee through darkwood forest. Chop two different sides of a darkwood tree to fell it and create a crossing. Ticks may appear in your inventory while chopping—drop them and continue northeast toward the exit. A bronze axe spawns on a stump; drop Soul Reaper axes if the game claims you already have an axe—they do not work for quest woodcutting.
Nylocas waves spawn from two corners. Attack white nylocas with melee and yellow with ranged. Throwable spines litter the ground; harvest dead venators for more if needed. Fast weapons like toxic blowpipe, ham joint, or Eye of Ayak excel here.
Wrangle three blood serpents from behind—approaching from the front inflicts poison damage. This checks your 65 Hunter requirement. Continue to the Aranei hideout once Ivan and the party regroup.
Aranei Hideout Preparation
Prepare Amitire stew for Safalaan: fill bowl with water, add potato, cook meat on the range, combine into incomplete stew, cook on range, add Amitire leaves. Upgrade your flail at the anvil—bring hallowed marks from Efaritay, a hammer, blisterwood flail, and enchanted blisterwood sickle in inventory (not equipped).
Craft blisterwood stakes in the eastern room after talking to Sarei and Ivan (knife on workbench, logs in north crate). Stakes are optional if you melee the Wyrd with the Hallowed flail. Next, defend the hideout with the ballista against portals—shoot each portal once, maintain participation until defender integrity hits ~60%, then let portals overwhelm defenders to advance. Inside, hammer rubble and repair cracks with similar participation thresholds before another Drakan fight ending at 58% HP.
Another Night at the Theatre
Gear for Nylocas and Maiden fights—melee with magic and ranged swaps recommended, though quest difficulty is lower than the real Theatre of Blood. Speak with Sugadinti Vitur outside the notice board. The gauntlet runs without breaks: Nylocas wave (range, melee, mage), Maiden of Sugadinti, second Nylocas wave, then Nylocas Vasilias.
White nylocas are melee weak, green magic, blue ranged—same colour rules as the raid. Food and potions carry over from Vampyrium supplies where applicable. After completion, the story moves toward the Wyrd confrontation near Burgh de Rott.
Wyrd of the Hallowed — Safalaan Boss
Teleport to Burgh de Rott, head east then north to Ivan and Veliaf south of the Barrows fence. Enter the ruined building and fight the Wyrd (level 564, 1,100 HP) until ~10% health triggers the ending cutscene.
The Wyrd melees with prayer-reduced damage under Protect from Melee, pushing you back one tile per hit. Ranging avoids specials but triggers typeless magic up to 25 damage—bring stamina, brews, and restores. Attack cycle: Melee, Screech, Melee, Screech, Slam. Watch which arm he uses before slams and move to the opposite side. At ~60% HP, Bloody Screech replaces standard screeches—run from blood pools while prayers are off. Death respawns outside the laboratory with items intact; bank at Burgh de Rott to resupply.
After the Wyrd, Drakan's Onslaught and Night of the Blood Moon segments lead to the finale covered in our final fight guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Jovkai key altar code?
35158, derived from chair verses east of the altar referencing low-level protection prayers and their altar restore amounts (3, 5, 1, 5, 8).
How do I wrangle blood serpents without taking poison damage?
Stand behind each serpent and use the wrangle option from the rear. Front approaches deal 5 poison damage.
Is the Theatre of Blood segment in the quest harder than the raid?
No. Rooms are significantly easier than normal Theatre of Blood. Basic Nylocas colour knowledge and Maiden familiarity are sufficient.
Should I melee or range the Wyrd?
Melee with the Hallowed flail under Protect from Melee is simpler for most players. Ranging avoids pushback but requires blisterwood stakes and suffers typeless magic damage throughout.
What happens if I fail the Aranei ballista defence?
Insufficient participation fails the sequence and restarts from the beginning of that defence. Keep shooting portals until integrity reaches roughly 60%.
