Quest Completion Rewards

Choosing Your Quest Reward

Completing The Blood Moon Rises grants all quest rewards automatically — no selection screen. You receive the Hallowed Flail (crafted mid-quest from Blisterwood), the Sunspear special attack weapon, and six Tomes of XP granting 30,000 experience each to skills level 70 or above, plus 4 Quest Points and Vampyrium access.

Both weapons are untradeable and complement each other: flail for sustained crush melee against vampyres, Sunspear for ranged hybrid phases and spec bursts with Seeking Lunge (50% spec energy, 70% of max hit guaranteed on successful hit).

Hallowed Flail

The Hallowed Flail is a one-handed crush weapon aimed at melee accounts who want a prayer-friendly stat line without sacrificing DPS against undead and demon-type bosses common in Vampyrium. Its attack speed and strength bonus place it above most pre-quest crush options for sustained single-target damage.

During the Lord Drakan fight, crush melee with overhead prayer switching remains one of the most stable approaches. The Hallowed Flail's accuracy profile helps on phases where Lord Drakan shifts defensive bonuses. Post-quest, it serves as a strong primary weapon for Maggot King learning runs before you acquire the Crimson Kisten special attack weapon.

Pair the flail with a defensive off-hand or shield during quest phases that demand damage reduction. After the quest, upgrade to a DPS off-hand when you are comfortable with boss mechanics. The flail also synergizes with standard melee prayer rotations because its DPS does not depend on stacking multiple temporary buffs.

Sunspear

The Sunspear is the ranged-focused quest reward, built for accounts that want consistent output across multi-phase fights. It fills a similar design niche to other quest-tier ranged weapons: reliable base stats, undead bonus damage where applicable, and low maintenance compared to charged endgame weapons.

Ranged accounts benefit during Lord Drakan segments that punish melee distance or require rapid prayer flicking while maintaining DPS. Sunspear avoids the ammo consumption anxiety of blowpipe setups during long quest instances, which matters when inventory slots are dedicated to quest items.

After the quest, Sunspear remains viable for Wyrd and early Vampyrium encounters, though most high-level ranged mains eventually transition to Twisted bow or Tumeken's shadow for Maggot King. Keep Sunspear as a backup weapon for situations where supply costs or charge management make endgame weapons inconvenient.

Tomes of XP

You receive six Tomes of XP, each granting 30,000 experience to any skill level 70 or above. Allocate tomes to skills gating Vampyrium content — Woodcutting (77 for Bloodwood), Hunter (82 for Stymphike), Slayer (74 for Venators), or Fletching for Seeker Arrow production.

Maxed mains may use tomes on alts or save for future skill releases. Each tome is consumed on use; plan order before clicking to avoid wasting experience on already-maxed skills.

Using Your Quest Rewards

Use the Hallowed Flail as your primary melee weapon throughout Lord Drakan, Wyrd, and early Maggot King attempts. Its vampyre bonus and silvthril blessing suppress dangerous vampyre abilities during quest combat.

Equip Sunspear for ranged phases and situations where inventory slots matter more than maximum DPS. After the July 8 patch, Sunspear gains +25% accuracy and +50% damage against Vampyres.

Spend XP tomes on whichever skills remain below Vampyrium activity gates. If all gates are met, dump tomes into slow skills like Mining or Herblore for long-term account value.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Hallowed Flail better than Ghrazi rapier?

They serve different styles. Hallowed Flail is crush with strong undead applicability; Ghrazi rapier is stab. For Lord Drakan and Maggot King crush weak points, the flail is often preferred. For general stab weak enemies, rapier remains king.

Does Sunspear require ammunition?

Sunspear behaves as a self-contained quest ranged weapon without standard arrow consumption. Treat it like other quest-tier ranged rewards that reduce supply pressure during long encounters.

How much XP do the tomes give?

Six tomes, each granting 30,000 XP to any skill level 70 or above. You receive all six automatically at quest completion.

What if my inventory was full at the end?

Speak to Efaritay to claim a free Sunspear if you missed it. The July 8 patch fixed full-inventory reward loss.
